Bought a container of miso paste and wondering what to do with the rest? These five easy recipes are some of my favorite ways to use miso, from seasonal sides to quick sauces and condiments.

After making a small batch of miso butter last week, I realized that I really should have a collection of recipes dedicated just to miso. It's such a wonderfully complex and yet still subtle flavor that makes all the difference in simple dishes, especially if you're cooking for one or prefer minimal-ingredient recipes.
What is miso paste?
Miso paste is a beloved Japanese seasoning made from fermented soybeans. It has a rich, savory flavor often described as "umami", the same alluring taste that makes foods like Parmesan cheese, mushrooms, and slow-cooked broths so delicious.
A small spoonful of miso can add soooo much depth to soups, sauces, dressings, and grain bowls. And because it keeps well in the refrigerator for many months, it's actually one of my favorite ingredients to have on hand in a small kitchen.

If I had to pick one recipe from this list to make (hard as that is), it would have to be the quick miso sauce. This easy sauce is so versatile and goes with just about anything, from steak and fish to grilled veggies and more.
Once you've discovered how versatile miso paste can be, you can explore my homemade sauces & dressings for even more ways to add big flavor to everyday cooking.
Enjoy!
