    🌿 Ingredients

Ingredients for strawberry aguas frescas arranged on a white countertop.

If you want to try other fruits, fresh watermelon or pineapple are also delicious variations! Either can simply be substituted for the strawberries; for watermelon, you can leave out the added water.

See recipe card below for exact quantities.

    📝 Instructions

Sliced strawberries and lime on a white and black cutting board.

Step 1: Wash the strawberries and lime, hull the berries by using a paring knife to remove the stems, and halve both. (You can save the other half of the lime for another use.)

Hulled strawberries, honey and water in a high speed blender.

Step 2: Place all of the ingredients except for the ice in the blender, and cover. Increase speed to high and blend for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Step 4: Enjoy immediately, or store for up to 24 hours in the fridge.

    💭 FAQ

Do I have to strain the strawberries for aguas frescas?

No, straining the fresh strawberries is not necessary for an agua fresca especially if you use a high speed blender such as a Vitamix. If you use a regular blender, you can strain the juice if you prefer a smoother texture but it's not required.

Can I use frozen strawberries instead of fresh for an agua fresca recipe?

Yes, you can use frozen strawberries but you'll want to let them thaw for about 15-20 minutes at room temperature first to create the most authentic consistency.

Can I use sugar instead of honey to make this agua fresca vegan?

Yes; absolutely! Feel free to use any sweetener of choice including sugar, maple syrup or agave syrup to make this recipe vegan.

Can I make aguas frescas in advance?

Strawberry aguas frescas are best when blended fresh just before enjoying, but can be made up to 24 hours in advance and kept chilled in the fridge.

    Notes

Blender: Use a professional-grade blender (if you have one) for an extra smooth texture, but a standard blender will work just fine too.

Storage: Strawberry aguas frescas will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 24 hours but are best when consumed immediately. They do not stand up well to freezing.
