This avocado toast recipe is a simple open-faced dish made with mashed avocado on toasted bread and ready in just 5 minutes for a quick breakfast or light lunch. Unlike basic avocado toast recipes, this version includes easy topping and seasoning ideas so that you can mix and match based on what ingredients you have on hand.

Breakfast for one just doesn't get easier (or tastier!) than this. Five minutes, one ripe avocado, and endless topping possibilities. And if you're craving a wholesome snack, like one you can really sink your teeth into, I highly, highly recommend avocado toast. It's warm, filling and absolutely delicious. (The other snack I love to have on hand are these no-bake protein balls.)
The key to great avocado toast is a ripe avocado, so my #1 tip for this recipe is simply to grab an extra avocado here and there to ripen on your countertop. It'll take a couple days depending on how hard it is to begin with, but it is so worth the effort to keep an extra "on deck". 🙂
🌿 Ingredients

The only ingredients you'll absolutely need to make avo toast are: a small avocado, bread and a little sea salt. Of course, you're welcome and encouraged to add any of the suggested toppings below too! I love using multi-grain bread or sourdough, but any hearty bread will work.
Pro tip: Don't use avocados that aren't ripe enough! If you buy an avocado that's very firm, it'll likely take at least a day or two to ripen on the countertop (no need to refrigerate while it's ripening.) You'll know when it's ripe if the flesh can be easily indented with a little push into the skin.
