Five ingredients--two greens, three fruits. Super delicious and naturally sweet, this is seriously the best green smoothie recipe. (Bonus: kids love it too because it doesn't taste like vegetables!)

No matter the time of year, a green smoothie is ALWAYS refreshing when you need to be refreshed! 🙂

And I highly recommend it especially after a workout, because this super healthy smoothie really quenches your thirst.

    First up, the fruits

Oranges, strawberries and pineapple. Yep, that's it! Simple, delicious, bursting with vitamin C and other nutrients. And fiber of course.

For the ½ orange in this recipe, I usually slice the orange in half first and then use a sharp paring knife or regular cutting knife to slice the peel off in sections. Don't worry if it's not perfect!

    Then, the greens

Kale and spinach. Packed with phytochemicals. And more fiber. Perfect. 🙂

Tip #1: I like to use lacinato kale, also know as dinosaur kale or Tuscan kale. It's deep green color gives these smoothies their rich color and I prefer its flavor as well. It's also more tender than curly kale--so if you don't have a high-speed blender like a Vitamix this is the kale to buy as it will also blend up a bit better.

Tip #2: For the spinach, I usually just use pre-washed, organic baby spinach leaves which are available in any grocery store these days. It's fast and easy, and on a busy day, efficiency is key.

If this is your first time trying a green smoothie for yourself or your kids, I 100% realize there may be some hesitation either with the color green or the thought of drinking green vegetables. I totally get it--I used to be that person many years back.

But I PROMISE you this will not taste like what you're expecting from the greens and such. The flavor combo just combines into one luscious sweet blend and you really wouldn't even know what went into it if you had to guess the individual fruits and vegetables.

And, it's kid approved by an extremely picky eater here. My daughter drinks them all the time and it's also a great opportunity to throw in some vitamin or protein powder which blends right in with no complaints whatsoever (shhh, don't tell;)

My husband and I drink these as often as possible too; SO refreshing after a long day.

    Cheers!

    Notes

Blender: A high-speed blender such as a Vitamix does make a big difference for this smoothie, especially for kids who may be more texture averse. Regular blenders will work but the resulting texture won't be as silky smooth.
